Welcome ...
:. Welcome to the homepage of the Community Advocacy on Gambling Project. The Community Advocacy
on Gambling (CAOG) Project was established in March of 2006, with the goal
of the project being:
“to give voice to, support, advocate, and build
community capacity to participate in environments of decision making so
that a balance of views can be brought to advancing community views on
gambling in Victoria”.
Advancing Community Views on Gambling
:. This
project was established with the view that community and local government
groups were not adequately resourced or knowledgeable or had the capacity
to tackle and address gambling–related issues affecting their communities
in Victoria. Therefore, this project was created to give voice to community
issues on gambling and to provide a mechanism to advocate on their behalf.
The proposition on which the project is based is to create a state–wide
advocacy service consistent with government resourcing to other issue–based
community services.
:. With initial
funding provided for two years (until March 2008), the Community Advocacy
on Gambling Project can assist local government and community groups to
address their concerns on gambling by providing information, advice and
support in regard to local gambling issues. Read
