Gambling

:. Any activity (e.g. a game of chance or skill) where an item of value is placed at risk in an attempt to gain something of greater value (New York Council on Problem Gambling).

Problem Gambling

:. “Problem gambling is characterised by difficulties in limiting money and/or time spent on gambling which leads to adverse consequences for the gambler, others, or for the community” (Gambling Research Australia, 2005).

Responsible Gambling

:. “Responsible gambling is the provision of gambling services in a way that seeks to minimise the harm to customers and the community associated with gambling” (Australian Institute for Gambling Research).
